The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL) is an academic institution where Science plays a central role. FMUL congregates research units and core facility services that are of utmost importance for VectorB2B. The research units of FMUL comprise: (i) The Centro de Cardiovascular da Universidade de Lisboa (CCUL), a research unit pursuing to contribute to the knowledge of the Cardiovascular System in health and disease, through interdisciplinary research, allowing the translation of basic knowledge into clinical practice, in order to ensure a decisive intervention in the prognosis, care and quality of life of patients, bridging molecular sciences, engineering and clinical practice. (ii) The Instituto de Saúde Ambiental (ISAMB), which main goal is to explore the impact of the environment on health.  (iii) The Centro de Estudos em Medicina Baseada na Evidência (CEMBE – The Centre for EvidenceBased Medicine) which is the interface between the university and the society for the provision of consultancy services in health and medicine.  (iv) The Instituto de Medicina Molecular (iMM), a reference of excellence for the Biomedical research in Portugal.

Together with IMM and the University Hospital of Santa Maria, FMUL is member of CAML – Centro Académico de Medicina de Lisboa, the Lisbon Academic Medical Centre, which was pioneer in Portugal for the integrated action of medical research, medical education, and clinical practice. CAML is the only consolidated system in Portugal consisting of an hospital, a medical school, and a research centre. 

Together, the FMUL-associated research facilities and the CAML-associated clinical facilities through Hospital de Santa Maria, the largest central hospital in Portugal and the one most committed to research and innovation, can provide a plethora of technical facilities and services that are key to the development of new drugs and other tools in therapy.
